Complete Box Score

NAMPA, Ida. (Jan. 18) Getting a strong start and 17 points from Rob Will, Seattle Pacific University scored a season high and coasted to a 108-80 win over Northwest Nazarene in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men¹s basketball game Thursday night at Montgomery Field House.

Six players finished in double figures for the Falcons (4-1, 11-5), who shot a near-record 70 percent and won their third in a row and seventh in the last eight outings. The percentage ranks No. 2 all-time for both SPU and the GNAC.

Will (Jr., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O¹Dea) overpowered the Crusaders (1-4, 6-10) for 13 first-half points. Brandon Larrieu (Fr., 5-10, Puyallup, Wa./Franklin Pierce) added a season-high 15 and Dustin Bremerman (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) had 11 of his 13 in the first half.

The Falcons connected on 14 of 23 shots from beyond the arc, with Drew Matzen (Sr., 6-4, Lynnwood, Wa./Bothell) nailing 4 of 5 and Marques Echols (Jr., 6-2, Seattle, Wa./Garfield) going 3-for-3.

Seattle Pacific struck swiftly after the opening tip, sinking its first five field goals, including four from three-point range. Matzen sank two treys during the 14-0 start.

The Crusaders climbed back within eight, at 29-21, after an 11-2 run. At that point the Falcons responded from both outside (two treys) and inside.

Will took command in the key, converting five times in a row and contributing nine points as SPU went on a 24-9 tear to lead 53-30 shortly before halftime.

NNU, which got 22 points from Marcus Clift, came out of the break with back-to-back threes before the visitors reeled off nine points in a row for a 64-39 bulge.

Seattle Pacific has shot over 63 percent in each of its last three meetings with Northwest Nazarene, averaging 114 points. It was credited with 34 assists on 42 baskets. Matzen had seven.

SPU visits Seattle University and Connolly Center Saturday at 7.
