Bremerman, Echols Help SPU Men Snap Skid to End Trip, 82-76
December 20, 2006

Complete Box Score

ST. GEORGE, Utah (Dec. 20) Dustin Bremerman and Marques Echols connected on key three-pointers in the final eight minutes as Seattle Pacific University ended a three-game losing streak by beating Dixie State 82-76 in a non-conference men¹s basketball game Wednesday night at Burns Arena.

Bremerman (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) and Echols (Jr., 6-2, Seattle, Wa./Garfield) each scored 16 points to lead the Falcons (5-4). Bremerman scored 12 in the second half, seven coming in the final eight minutes.

After the falling behind for the first time in the second half, the Falcons answered with a trey from the top of the key by Bremerman. They never trailed again and Echols hit from deep in the corner to cap a 7-0 spurt for a 74-67 lead.

Echols came off the bench to make four threes. JoJay Jackson (Jr., 6-5, Fairfield, Ca.) contributed 14 and eight rebounds for Seattle Pacific, which was completing a four-game road trip.

All three of the losses were to teams currently ranked among the top 25 in NCAA Division II.

The Rebels (9-7) got 25 points, including five threes, from Dan Stock. Ryan Sanchez had 15. Dixie State out-rebounded SPU 40-32 but committed 20 turnovers, four more than the visitors.

Seattle Pacific shot only 12 free throws, and totaled 42 in the four road games. Although the Falcons took a brief 12-point lead on a Jackson three late in the first half, they were unable to pull away and the Rebels claimed a 65-64 edge on two free throws by Sanchez.

SPU returns to action Dec. 29 when it hosts Cheyney in the opening round of the Oak Harbor Freight Lines Classic.
