Power Shortage Extends to Vegas As Falcon Men Lose 3rd in Row
December 16, 2006

Complete Box Score

LAS VEGAS (Dec. 16) Unable to cope with 15th-ranked Rollins (Fla.) either inside or outside, No. 4 Seattle Pacific University lost its third straight men's basketball game Saturday, 88-75 in the second round of the High Desert Classic at the McDermott Center.

Craig Reichel scored 23 points and John Thinnes had 21 for the Tars (6-2), who built a 29-point bulge by midway through the second half.

The losing streak for the Falcons (4-4) is the longest in three seasons. Rob Diederichs (Fr., 6-8, Shoreline, Wa./Shorewood) scored a season-high 21 points, with 16 and four of his five three-pointers coming in the final period.

Playing for the second time in 22 hours, Seattle Pacific was once again cold, shooting just 42 percent (17-37), including 37 percent in the first half.

Meanwhile, Rollins connected on a blistering 64 percent (33-52) of its field goals and 10 of 20 on threes. Thinnes drilled three treys in the opening three minutes and the Tars sank 6 of their first 8 in storming in front 26-12 after 8:33.

Another 8-0 burst to open the second half all but ended the SPU comeback hopes. Reichel had three layups in that run and finished 11 of 14 from the field.

Diederichs scored 13 points in the final eight minutes to pull the Falcons back. Dustin Bremerman (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) and Rob Will (Jr., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O'Dea) each had 13 points.

Seattle Pacific has won its last 23 games when shooting 50 percent from the field but has shot a combined 42 percent in its four losses, all on the road.

SPU completes its four-game road trip Wednesday at Utah's Dixie State.
