Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Dec. 2) Dustin Bremerman pumped in a career-high 43 points, including the go-head three-pointer with 31 seconds left in overtime, and 9th-ranked Seattle Pacific University went on to beat No. 17 BYU Hawaii, 98-93, at Brougham Pavilion Saturday night.

Marques Echols, who sent the game into extra time with three free throws in the final second of regulation, hit two fouls shots for a 96-93 lead with 16 seconds left in overtime and, with 4 seconds left, the Seasiders' Wu Tai-hao missed a potential game-tying three-point attempt from the corner.

Bremerman's (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) total ranks No. 3 all-time for Seattle Pacific (4-1), which has won 14 straight home non-conference games. It was the first loss for BYU (6-1).

Fourteen of Bremerman's points came in the final 62 seconds of regulation and the overtime. After the Seasiders had stormed back from 13 down to take an 80-75 lead, Bremerman connected from the top of the key. Another trey made it 83-81 with 8 seconds to go in regulation.

Bremerman hit 13 of 19 field goals, including 9 of 12 from outside the arc, tying the school record for threes in a single game.

Okesene Ale had hit a pair of treys during a 17-0 burst by the Hawaiians late in the second half. Okesene was one of five visitors in double figures, led by the 17 of Paul Peterson.

Echols and Rob Diederichs (Fr., 6-8, Shoreline, Wa./Shorewood) each added 16 for the Falcons, who shot 53 percent (33-63). They committed 20 turnoversseven coming in the final four minutes of regulation. Echols was 10-11 at the line.

SPU has won 23 straight games when shooting 50 percent or better from the field.

Both teams' big men were plagued by foul trouble in the opening half, with SPU center Rob Will playing just four minutes.

The Seasiders shot 58 percent , getting the majority of their points inside. Bremerman's 13 points kept the Falcons close, 40-38.

SPU is idle until visiting Cal State San Bernardino Dec. 12.
