Falcons Shoot 63 Percent, Men Bounce Back to Win
November 25, 2006

Complete Box Score

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 25) Behind the 23 points of Dustin Bremerman and career-high 21 by Drew Matzen, No. 4-ranked Seattle Pacific University beat Cal State Dominguez Hills 84-65 in the final game of the Falcon Thanksgiving Classic Saturday at the McDermott Center.

Bouncing back from frigid shooting the previous outing, the Falcons (3-1) shot a torrid 63 percent from the field, including 13 of 23 three-pointers.

Matzen (Sr., 6-4, Bothell, Wa./Lynnwood) connected on all five of his shots from beyond the arc while Bremerman (Sr., Yakima, Wa.) hit 4 of 7.

The Toros (0-2) trimmed a 19-point deficit to 36-31 shortly before halftime, but Bremerman responded with threes on two of the next three possessions. Another of his treys enlarged the bulge to 73-50 with 7:10 to go.

Seattle Pacific never trailed after reeling off 14 unanswered points for a 16-5 lead seven minutes into the game. Matzen drilled two three-pointers and JoJay Jackson (Jr., 6-5, Fairfield, Ca.) hit another.

Bremerman and Matzen shot a combined 16-22 from the floor. Jackson led all players with 10 rebounds and Rob Diederichs (Fr., 6-8, Shoreline, Wa./Shorewood) came off the bench for 12 points.

Rob Will (Jr., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O'Dea) contributed nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists. SPU was credited with 29 assists on 32 baskets.

Seattle Pacific had scored a nine-year low in Friday's first-round, 62-52 loss to UC San Diego. The Tritons upset No. 2 Montevallo 61-60 Saturday.

Dominguez Hills shot 37 percent (25-67) but forced 19 turnovers, 13 coming from steals.

The Falcons host BYU Hawaii Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.
