November 22, 2006

Complete Box Score

SEATTLE, Wa. (Nov. 22)—Autumn Fielding had 14 points and Jackie Hollands and Beth Christensen each had 12 as Seattle Pacific University (3-0) downed San Francisco State 72-67 in a non-conference women’s basketball game Wednesday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Fielding (Sr., 5-9, Kennewick, Wa.) shot a perfect six for six from the free-throw line and garnered a pair of assists in the victory. She had two treys.

The Gators (0-2) led the opening ten minutes of play until Rachel Strand’s (Sr., 6-0, Shoreline, Wa./King’s) short jumper put the Falcons up 16-15 with 10:06 remaining before the half.

Seattle Pacific went into the locker room up 33-26, and stretched its lead to 12 by the second half’s midpoint as Fielding connected on one of her three-pointers, and Christenson dished out an assist for a Libby Magnuson (Jr., 5-10, White Bear Lake, Mn./Bradley) lay-up.

The Gators persevered, and chipped away at SPU’s lead, pulling within two on a Krystal Mays tip-in with 2:19 remaining.

Christensen and Hollands (Jr., 5-9, Oregon City, Or.) combined for seven of the Falcons’ final 11 points. Hollands hit net on four free-throws down the stretch to seal the victory for Seattle Pacific.

The Falcons out-rebounded SFSU 47-41. Both teams shot 37% from the field.

Brio Rode led all scorers with 18 points. Teammate Aumornai Edinburgh finished with 16. Seattle Pacific’s Jessie Menkens (Sr., 5-10, Battle Ground, Wa.) tossed out a game-high five assists.

The Falcons play next Nov. 30 at Gonzaga University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7PM.
