SEATTLE, Wa. (Nov. 22)Autumn Fielding had
14 points and Jackie Hollands and Beth Christensen each had 12 as
Seattle Pacific University (3-0) downed San Francisco State 72-67
in a non-conference womens basketball game Wednesday night
at Brougham Pavilion.
Fielding (Sr., 5-9, Kennewick, Wa.) shot a
perfect six for six from the free-throw line and garnered a pair
of assists in the victory. She had two treys.
The Gators (0-2) led the opening ten minutes of
play until Rachel Strands (Sr., 6-0, Shoreline, Wa./Kings)
short jumper put the Falcons up 16-15 with 10:06 remaining before
the half.
Seattle Pacific went into the locker room up
33-26, and stretched its lead to 12 by the second halfs
midpoint as Fielding connected on one of her three-pointers, and
Christenson dished out an assist for a Libby Magnuson (Jr., 5-10,
White Bear Lake, Mn./Bradley) lay-up.
The Gators persevered, and chipped away at SPUs
lead, pulling within two on a Krystal Mays tip-in with 2:19
remaining.
Christensen and Hollands (Jr., 5-9, Oregon
City, Or.) combined for seven of the Falcons final 11
points. Hollands hit net on four free-throws down the stretch to
seal the victory for Seattle Pacific.
The Falcons out-rebounded SFSU 47-41. Both
teams shot 37% from the field.
Brio Rode led all scorers with 18 points.
Teammate Aumornai Edinburgh finished with 16. Seattle Pacifics
Jessie Menkens (Sr., 5-10, Battle Ground, Wa.) tossed out a
game-high five assists.
The Falcons play next Nov. 30 at Gonzaga
University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7PM.
