SEATTLE (Nov. 21) ­ Chauncey Campanaro, a senior at California's JSerra Catholic High School, and Jeffrey Downs of Bellevue Christian High School have signed a national letters of intent to play basketball at Seattle Pacific University beginning next season.

Campanaro, a 6-6 swingman, averaged 10.2 points and 6.1 rebounds as a junior for the San Juan Capistrano school. The Lions were 24-6.

Downs, a 6-foot-4 senior forward, was a first team all-Emerald City League selection as a junior. Downs led the Vikings (24-2) to the state 1A championships, averaging 20.8 in the tournament.

Seattle Pacific was 26-6 under Jeff Hironaka last season, winning both the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and West Region championships while advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II tournament. The Falcons (2-0), currently ranked 4th in the nation, face UC San Diego in Las Vegas Friday.
