Complete Box Score

MORAGA, Calif. (Nov. 10) -- Turnover-plagued Seattle Pacific University opened its men's basketball preseason by falling to host Saint Mary's, 71-60, in the first round of the Shamrock Invitational at McKeon Pavilion Saturday night.

The Gaels survived a second-half rally by holding the Falcons without a field goal for over 8 minutes while putting together an 18-7 run.

Seattle Pacific's Dustin Bremerman (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) led all scorers with 26 points, a dozen coming off three-pointers. Rob Will (Jr., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O'Dea) added 16 plus 11 rebounds.

Saint Mary's was paced by the 18 of Brett Collins and its bench outscored the SPU reserves 24-5.

After trailing by 14 early in the second period, the Falcons charged back, cutting the deficit to 51-46 after a Bremerman trey and two free throws by Will. However, the hosts gradually pulled away as SPU missed its next six shots and committing six of their 26 turnovers.

Saint Mary's hit 44 percent (28-63) from the field to 36 percent (17-47) for the Falcons. The win counts for the Gaels but, under Division II rules, it was an exhibition for SPU.
