SEATTLE (Nov. 8) Seattle Pacific
University standout volleyball attacker Alyssa Given has been
voted to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA District 8
All-Academic first team announced today.
Given (Jr., Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) led the
Great Northwest Athletic Conference in kills and points during the
regular season, and set a pair of SPU records last week for kills
and attempts in a single match. She was a unanimous first team
all-conference selection earlier this week.
A nursing major with a 3.80 grade point
average, Given has made the academic all-GNAC team for two years.
She is now a finalist for Academic All-America.
Also named to the District 8 first team were
Tiana Roma of Western Washington, Melissa Mulick from Seattle
University, Lizzy Ford from Redlands, Nicole Vander Meulen from
Whitworth and Nicole Courtney from UC San Diego.
Seattle Pacific (24-2) opens NCAA Division II
tournament play Thursday at the Pacific Regional in San
Bernardino, Calif. The Falcons face Chico State at 5 p.m.
