Given Makes Volleyball Academic All-District
November 8, 2006

SEATTLE (Nov. 8) Seattle Pacific University standout volleyball attacker Alyssa Given has been voted to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA District 8 All-Academic first team announced today.

Given (Jr., Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) led the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in kills and points during the regular season, and set a pair of SPU records last week for kills and attempts in a single match. She was a unanimous first team all-conference selection earlier this week.

A nursing major with a 3.80 grade point average, Given has made the academic all-GNAC team for two years. She is now a finalist for Academic All-America.

Also named to the District 8 first team were Tiana Roma of Western Washington, Melissa Mulick from Seattle University, Lizzy Ford from Redlands, Nicole Vander Meulen from Whitworth and Nicole Courtney from UC San Diego.

Seattle Pacific (24-2) opens NCAA Division II tournament play Thursday at the Pacific Regional in San Bernardino, Calif. The Falcons face Chico State at 5 p.m.
