No. 20 SPU Women Win at Central Washington on Late Goals
October 25, 2006

Complete Box Score

ELLENSBURG, Wa. (Oct. 25)—Tricia Loomis and Alex Kirk scored goals just over three minutes apart late in the second half as No. 20-ranked Seattle Pacific University won 2-0 at Central Washington in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer match in Ellensburg.

The victory was Seattle Pacific’s (7-2-0/16-3-0) sixth straight. Over that span, the Falcons have outscored opponents 18-3. Central dropped to 1-6-2/6-9-3.

After an 84-minute stalemate, Loomis (Jr., Des Moines, Wa./Mount Rainier) struck a nifty diagonal slot pass from Sarah Martinez (Jr., Bothell, Wa.) past Central keeper Amber Easterbrook for her fifth goal of the season (84:12).

3:03 later, Kirk (Fr., Edmonds, Wa./Edmonds-Woodway) fielded the ball at the left corner and dribbled through three Wildcat defenders across the box. Kirk beat Easterbrook to the right post.

Overall, Seattle Pacific out-shot Central 23-8. Easterbrook recorded nine saves; Katie Ruggles (Sr., Eugene, Or./South Eugene) had three.

The Falcons finish out the regular season Oct. 28 at Seattle University. Kick-off time is 11AM. NCAA tournament brackets will be announced Monday night (Oct. 30). SPU has qualified for the playoffs in each of the last four seasons.
