Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Oct. 12) Alyssa Given scored four of the final five points as 15th-ranked Seattle Pacific University downed No. 21 Central Washington in four games in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match Thursday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Rachel Biornstad (Jr., Kent, Wa./Kentlake) hammered 21 kills and Given (Jr., Salinas, Ca.) added 19 for the Falcons (11-0, 19-2), who won their 13th in a row and 16th straight at home. They won 30-26, 30-25, 23-30 and 30-24 to sweep the Wildcats (6-4, 15-5) for the first time in six seasons.

Stephanie Powell led Central with 21 kills and Kristin Pasley had 15.

The Wildcats had stormed back from a two-game deficit to win the third frame and go up 22-20 in the fourth. But Biornstad, hitting hard down the middle, brought SPU level at 24 with a smash that caught the line. She then served the final six points of the match.

Given delivered three kills and mixed in a soft stuff block, pushing Seattle Pacific in front 29-24 before a error by the ŒCats on match point.

The Falcons hit .257 to the visitors' .226 and a total of five players had 10 or more kills. Shelby Gihiring (Sr., Kent, Wa./Kentlake), doing most of her damage in the first two games, had 14, along with Angie Wodrich (Jr., Richland, Wa.). Jessica Bettencourt (Fr., So. Lk. Tahoe, Ca.) had 10.

Setter Jenna Von Moos (Sr., Stanwood, Wa.) had a season-high 73 assists and also led SPU with four blocks.
