15th-Ranked Seattle Pacific Extends Volleyball Win Streaks to 20 in League, 14 at Home

SEATTLE (Oct. 5) Senior setter Jenna Von Moos led a balanced team effort as Seattle Pacific remained perfect in league play with a 3-0 sweep of Northwest Nazarene in Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball action Thursday night at Brougham Pavilion.

The Falcons (9-0 GNAC, 17-2), ranked No. 15 in NCAA II, picked up their 20th straight conference victory by a score of 30-23, 30-20, 30-20. Northwest Nazarene (4-4, 8-8) was swept by SPU in both matches between the teams this season.

Von Moos (Sr., 5-10, Stanwood, Wa.) tallied match highs in both assists (33) and hitting percentage (.545) to go along with six kills, nine digs and three blocks as the Falcons won their 14th straight match at home and 11th straight this year.

Shelby Gihring (Sr., 5-10, Kent, Wa./Kentlake) led the victors offensively with 13 kills. GNAC kills leader Alyssa Given (Jr., 5-10, Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) added nine kills and 11 digs. Angie Wodrich (Jr., 5-10, Richland, Wa.) chipped in with eight kills and match highs of 15 digs and six service aces.

Lindsay Fryer had 11 kills and 11 digs for the Crusaders. Chelsea Lewis added eight kills in the loss.

Seattle Pacific, who leads the conference in both offensive and defensive hitting percentage, hit .200 as a team and held Northwest Nazarene to a .083 clip. The Falcons also enjoyed advantages of 12-3 in aces and 8-4 in blocks. SPU’s Rachel Biornstad (Jr., 6-0, Kent, Wa./Kentlake) led all players with a solo block and four block assists.

The Falcons host cross-city rival Seattle University in a GNAC contest Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
