LACEY, Wash. (Sept. 23) --- Led by Mary Moriarty's runner-up finish, the Seattle Pacific University women's cross country team won for the second time in three outings Saturday at the Saint Martin's Invitational.

Running on the same course to be used for next month's Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships, the 10th-ranked Falcons easily beat Club Northwest, 26-65, and five college teams . The SPU men finished fourth behind Alaska Anchorage, Western Oregon and Western Washington.

Club Northwest's Linda Huyck won the women's 6000-meter event in 21 minutes, 34 seconds. Moriarty (So., Seattle, Wa./Ballard) took second place in22:12 and was followed across the line by teammates Karin Rhode (Jr., Bellingha m, Wa./Mt. Baker) and Jane Larson (Fr., Fall City, Wa./Cedar Park Christian) in 22:31 and 22:39, respectively.

Jessica Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake) is off until the GNAC meet. Pixler won her first two meets but is now back with the soccer team. The Falcons' Suzie Strickler (So., Richland, Wa.) ran eighth (23:10) and Kate Harline (Fr., Orem, Ut.) ninth (23:10).

Taking individual honors for the men was Saint Martin's John Riak, completing the 8-kilometer course in 25:09. Brian Cronrath (Jr., Battle Ground, Wa.) was the top SPU scorer, taking 10th in 26:36.

Seattle Pacific runs with the alumni next Saturday at Green Lake.
