NAMPA, Id. (Sep. 21) Alyssa Given
smashed a match-high 16 kills to help lead Seattle Pacific to its
17th straight conference victory, a 3-0 sweep over Northwest
Nazarene in Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball action
Thursday night at NNUs Johnson Sports Center.
The Falcons (5-0 GNAC, 13-2), ranked No. 18 in
NCAA II, won their seventh straight match overall, downing
Northwest Nazarene (2-3, 6-7) 30-27, 30-18, 30-25. The Falcons
also swept an opponent for the fourth straight match
Given (Jr., 5-10, Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame), the
GNAC leader in kills, also finished with a .286 hitting
percentage, seven digs and led all players with three service
aces. Rachel Biornstad (Jr., 6-0, Kent, Wa./Kentlake) added 11
kills on .360 hitting and four blocks.
The Falcons hit .188 as a team and recorded
nine blocks and eight aces.
SPU setter Jenna Von Moos (Sr., 5-10, Stanwood,
Wa.) chipped in with three kills, 39 assists, nine digs and three
blocks in the victory. Tiffany Butac (Sr., 5-2, Pearl City,
Hi./Hawaii Baptist) had a match-high 19 digs.
Lindsay Forseth and Lindsey Fryer led the NNU
attack with seven kills each. The Crusaders also got three kills,
24 assists, 16 digs and three blocks from setter Allion James.
The Crusaders hit just .074 as a team and
committed nine service errors.
The Falcons return to Seattle for an away match
against cross-city rival Seattle University in GNAC action
Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
