Teague Assists No. 6 SPU Women in Downing Notre Dame de Namur, 2-0
September 7, 2006

BELMONT, Ca. (Sept. 7)—Sarah Martinez and Kayla Steigemeier each scored goals, and were the beneficiaries of a pair of Meredith Teague assists as Seattle Pacific University downed Notre Dame de Namur in a non-conference women’s soccer game Thursday afternoon in Belmont.

Teague (So., Redmond, Wa./Bellevue Christian) served up a 40-yard diagonal cross to Martinez (Jr., Bothell, Wa./Cedar Park Christian) in the 22nd minute to open up scoring. Martinez trapped the ball and sent a slicing shot past Notre Dame de Namur keeper Candace Schrodetski to the left post for her second goal of the season.

At 30:22, Steigemeier (Fr., Rathdrum, Id./Lakeland) ran onto Teague’s through ball and out-raced several defenders to goal. Steigemeier’s shot found the right corner.

Overall, Seattle Pacific out shot the Argonauts 17-1 and earned a half-dozen corner kicks to the Argos’ 0. SPU Keeper Katie Ruggles (Sr., Eugene, Or./South Eugene) recorded the shutout.

The Falcons (5-1-0) take a 44 (40-0-4) match unbeaten streak into Great Northwest Athletic Conference play beginning Sept. 13 at Western Oregon. Seattle Pacific returns to its home turf of Interbay Sept. 21.
