SEATTLE (Sept. 5) ­ Matt Kemper of Seattle Pacific University was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer player of the week after playing a key role in two shutout wins.

Kemper (Jr., Colorado Springs, Co./Palmer) organized the Falcon defense and launched attacks out of the back as SPU blanked Cal State L.A. 2-0 and 17th-ranked Sonoma State 3-0 to win the Seawolf Classic at Rohnert Park.

He was named the tournament's defensive MVP and came forward to launch four shots (two of them on goal) in three contests overall.

Seattle Pacific (3-1-0) visits San Francisco State Wednesday.
