Second-Half Goals Give Falcon Men 2-0 Victory Over Cal State L.A.
Date

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (Sept. 2) Andy Willis and Michael Morris scored second-half goals and 9th-ranked Seattle Pacific University beat Cal State L.A. 2-0 in the first round of the Seawolf Soccer Classic Saturday.

Kellen Rosten (Jr., Colorado Spring, Co.) made five saves to earn his second shutout for the Falcons (2-1-0), who opened a six-game road trip.

After Seattle Pacific was out-shot by the Golden Eagles 9-4 in the first half, Willis (Sr., Gig Harbor, Wa./Gig Harbor) less than five minutes after the break. He swept the ball into the net left-footed off a pass from Jeff Hallenbeck (Jr., Redmond, Wa./Inglemoor).

With 20 minutes remaining, Morris (Sr., Bothell, Wa./Blanchet) notched his second goal of the year, finishing a cross from James Coggan (Jr., San Jose, Ca.).

Shortly after the goal, the Falcons' Brandon Crutchfield (Fr., Snohomish, Wa.) was ejected, one of eight cards handed out, including five yellows to CSLA. He will miss Monday's game with No. 17 Sonoma State.

With the victory, SPU avoided its first back-to-back losses in 43 games. Coach Cliff McCrath shuffled his lineup, starting Alec Nelson (Sr., Lynnwood, Wa./Meadowdale) in midfield.
