Falcons Top No. 13 Hawaii Pacific Again; Win 11th Straight at Home
August 29, 2006

Complete Box Score

Seattle (Aug. 29) Angie Wodrich recorded a team-high 11 kills to round out a solid all-around performance and Seattle Pacific swept Hawaii Pacific for the second time in four days in a battle of nationally ranked opponents Tuesday afternoon at Brougham Pavilion.

It was the home opener for the 18th-ranked Falcons (4-1), who have won 11 straight at home dating back to last season. The 13th-ranked Sea Warriors dropped to 1-4 to start the season. SPU’s only loss came to No. 21 BYU-Hawaii last week.

Wodrich (Jr., 5-10, Richland, Wa.) also recorded match highs of a .400 hitting percentage and four service aces to go along with nine digs to help lead the Falcons to an easy 30-19, 30-18, 30-21 victory. Alyssa Given (Jr., 5-10, Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) added 10 kills in the victory.

Barbara Martin led all players with 12 kills and also tallied 11 digs in the loss for Hawaii Pacific.

SPU setter Jenna Von Moos (Sr., 5-10, Stanwood, Wa.) finished with 35 assists, eight digs and three blocks.

The Falcons hit at a whopping .241 clip for the match and held the Sea Warriors to just a .049 percentage. SPU took commanding leads in games one (16-6) and three (20-5) en route to the lopsided win, and last trailed when HPU captured a 5-4 lead early in game two.

The Falcons are back in action tomorrow night against Hawaii Hilo at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to Durango, Co. for the Fort Lewis College Invitational Friday and Saturday.
