SEATTLE (August 16) Former Seattle Pacific University point guard Tony Binetti has signed a one-year contract to play for Ignis Castelletto Ticino of the Italian second division.

Binetti, who was an All-American and led the Falcons to the NCAA Division II basketball semifinals last season, will likely debut for his new club Aug. 25 in an exhibition against Wisconsin. Binetti had joined first division runner-up Fortitudo Bologna for the playoffs last spring.

Binetti (Sr., Enumclaw, Wa.) was voted the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2005-06. He also received an NCAA Postgraduate scholarship and was the GNAC player of the year, pacing the Falcons in scoring (18.2), assists (5.1) and three-point percentage (.474) .
