Seattle Pacific's Blake Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholar
July 3, 2006

SEATTLE (July 3) Linda Blake of Seattle Pacific University's track and field team has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for spring sports participants.

Blake (Sr., Richland, Wa), an All-American in the heptathlon and Academic All-American, becomes the Falcons' 20th NCAA honoree and sixth in two years. Earlier this year basketball's Tony Binetti received the award.

Blake is the fifth SPU female track and field athlete to receive an NCAA postgraduate award.

A chemistry major with a 3.94 GPA, Blake finished eighth in the NCAA heptathlon in May. Last winter she won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference indoor 60-meter hurdles indoor title and was the heptathlon champion as a sophomore.

The NCAA has awarded 58 postgraduate scholarships of $7,500 each to 29 male student-athletes and 29 female student-athletes who participated in spring sports. Including fall and winter sports, a total of 170 postgraduate scholarships were awarded.
