SPU Women Face Two Tough Tests to Kick-Off '06 Schedule
June 23, 2006

Complete 2006 Schedule

SEATTLE (June 23) Two past postseason opponents will come to Interbay Stadium for the season-opening homestand of the Seattle Pacific University women's soccer season.

The Falcons, unbeaten during the past two regular seasons and coming off a trip to the NCAA Division II championship game in just their fifth year, begin play Aug. 24 against Chico State. The two foes have met in the first round of the playoffs each of the last two seasons.

A three-game stand concludes Aug. 29 against Cal State Dominguez Hills, prior to a string of five consecutive road games. The bid for a fifth straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference crown begins Sept. 13 at Western Oregon.

Another four-game homestand features the annual derby game with Seattle University Sept. 30. A compacted regular season finishes Oct. 28 at the Redhawks' home field.

Seniors will be honored prior to the ninth and final home date, an Oct. 21 afternoon match with Western Oregon.

Five starters are back from the team which went 20-1-4 in Chuck Sekyra's third year as coach. All-America forward Sarah Martinez and all-region selections Kara Hamby and Carolyn Nason headline the cast.
