June 13, 2006

SEATTLE (June 13) Stephanie Wayt, the starting setter at Idaho's Lewis-Clark State the past two seasons, has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball for Seattle Pacific University next season.

Wayt, a 5-foot-7 native of Anchorage, becomes the fourth recruit for the Falcons. She averaged 6.47 assists, 1.41 digs and 0.3 service aces per game for the Warriors last season, and appeared in 24 of 26 matches. Wayt had averaged 4.79 assists as a freshman.

Wayt was the Alaska player of the year in 2003, helping to lead Robert Service High School to the championship.

Seattle Pacific is coming off a 22-6 record, a No. 16 national ranking and co-championship of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Falcons open the 2006 season Aug. 24-26 at the Hawaiian Style Classic in Hilo.
