SEATTLE (May 29) -- Seattle Pacific Universitys
Chris Randolph has been named the Great Northwest Athletic
Conference male track and field athlete of the week for a fourth
time after breaking his own SPU and GNAC records in winning the
NCAA Division II decathlon.
Randolph (Sr., Lone Tree, Co./ Denver
Christian) successfully defended his decathlon crown, posting the
third-highest total (7,872) by an American this year and adding
260 points to his career-high score. It was the No. 4 winning
score in meet history and best since 1988.
Randolph won four events and was runner-up or
third in five others. Six of his marks were personal records,
including three (high jump 6-8¾, pole vault 15-5, long jump
23-11¾) which rate among the schools all-time top five.
He also now holds the GNAC record in six of the 10 decathlon
events.
Randolph will represent the Falcons one final
time, at the USA Championships, June 21-22 in Indianapolis.
