Falcon Runners Collect GNAC Track Athlete of Week Honors
May 15, 2006

SEATTLE (May 15) Seattle Pacific University's Karin Rohde and Eddie Strickler earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference athletes of the week following their wins at last week's Ken Foreman Invitational track and field meet.

Rohde (So., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker) won her third straight race, lowered her own SPU record and set a meet record in winning the steeplechase in 10 minutes, 58.7 seconds. It was a personal record by more than 7 seconds.

Strickler (Jr., Richland, Wa.) used a big kick down the home stretch to overtake four runners and win the 800 in 1:53.80. He had won the GNAC championship the previous week.

The final field for the NCAA Division II Championships will be announced Tuesday (May 16), and the national meet begins May 25 in Emporia, Kansas.
