SEATTLE (May 15) Seattle Pacific
University's Karin Rohde and Eddie Strickler earned Great
Northwest Athletic Conference athletes of the week following their
wins at last week's Ken Foreman Invitational track and field meet.
Rohde (So., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker) won
her third straight race, lowered her own SPU record and set a meet
record in winning the steeplechase in 10 minutes, 58.7 seconds. It
was a personal record by more than 7 seconds.
Strickler (Jr., Richland, Wa.) used a big kick
down the home stretch to overtake four runners and win the 800 in
1:53.80. He had won the GNAC championship the previous week.
The final field for the NCAA Division II
Championships will be announced Tuesday (May 16), and the national
meet begins May 25 in Emporia, Kansas.
