BELLINGHAM, WASH. (Apr. 28) Chris
Randolph threw the discus within one foot of the Seattle Pacific
University record in winning at the Western Washington Twilight
track and field meet Friday night.
Randolph (Sr., Lone Tree, Co.) sent the disk
161 feet, 9 inches to handily claim the event and surpass the NCAA
Division II provisional qualifying standard. He already owns the
nation¹s top qualifying mark in the decathlon. The SPU discus
record is 162-7, set by Mike Olson in 1992.
For the Falcon women, Teona Perkins (Jr.,
Kennewick, Wa.) raised her qualifying mark in the high jump,
taking first at 5-7¾. She also took second in the 400m meters
in 59.15 seconds.
Amy Harris (Sr., Corvallis, Or.) bumped her
season-best mark in the pole vault to 11-11¾ with her second
victory in three meets.
The SPU women won every race between 800-5000
meters, including Corina James (Fr., Madera, Ca.) with a 28-second
personal record of 12:28.94 in the steeplechase.
Seattle Pacific next competes at the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference Championships, May 6 in Monmouth,
Or.
