SEATTLE (Apr. 20) Kylie Johnson, a
standout middle from Tucson, has signed a national letter of
intent to play volleyball for Seattle Pacific University next
season.
Johnson, a 6-foot senior at Catalina Foothills
High School, becomes the first recruit for Seattle Pacific. She
hit. 387 in her final season for the Falcons and was named the
Kino Region player of the year and honorable mention all-state.
Catalina Foothills won the region and advanced to the second round
of the Arizona 4A tournament.
Zona, Johnson's volleyball club, qualified for
nationals and she made the Southern Arizona first team selection.
Seattle Pacific is coming off a 22-6 record and
co-championship of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Coach
Chris Johnson loses two seniors from a squad which reached the
NCAA Division II tournament and was ranked No. 18 in the final
coaches poll.
