SEATTLE (April 16) Chris Randolph of
Seattle Pacific University was named the men's track and field
athlete of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference
after breaking both the school and conference records for the
decathlon.
Randolph, Seattle Pacific (Sr., Lone Tree,
Co./Denver Christian) broke the 36-year-old Falcon mark taking
third place with a GNAC record score of 7,612 points at the Mount
SAC Relays. He broke the old SPU record of 7,520, set by Steve
Gough in 1970 and his own conference record of 7,309 set last
season.
Randolph had six PRs altogether, and his pole
vault (14-11) and 110 hurdles time (14.82) each rate No. 2 on
school lists. Three of his marks - 400 meters, 110 hurdles and
javelin were GNAC records for a multi-event and nine of his
10 performances bettered the GNAC qualifying standard for the
conference meet. His hurdles time is the best in the conference
this spring in any meet.
