SEATTLE (Mar. 18) Seattle Pacific
University's Chris Randolph won three events and the Falcons
picked up two more provisional qualifiers at the Washington
Preview track and field meet Saturday at Husky Stadium.
The defending NCAA Division II champion in the
decathlon, Randolph (Sr., Lone Tree, Co.) set personal records in
winning the 400 meters (48.72), 110 hurdles (15.06) and discus
(155-1).
The 400 time ranks No. 2 all-time at SPUjust
.08 off the record and Randolph's hurdle and discus marks are both
No. 4.
Making the national qualifying list were pole
vaulter Amy Harris (Sr., Corvallis, Or.) and steeplechaser Doug
Gibson (Jr., Yakima, Wa./Riverside Christian). Harris took second
place at 11-7 3/4. Gibson ran third in a PR of 9:24.85.
In the women's steeple, Brandi McCoy (Sr.,
Richland, Wa.) finished second in an improved qualifying mark of
11:16.05.
Seattle Pacific's other victories came from
Molly Barnes (Jr., Burien, Wa./Highline) in the javelin (127-8)
and the women's 1600 relay (4:08.17).
SPU will send runners to both the Puget Sound
Open Friday and next Saturday's Spring Break Open in Edmonds.
