Anchorage, Ak. (Mar. 11) Emily Parsons
finished first on beam and floor en route to winning the
all-around, helping No. 10-ranked Nebraska defeat both Seattle
Pacific and Alaska Anchorage in a womens gymnastics meet
Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
Parsons scored 39.325 points to help the
Cornhuskers (13-5-1) score 194.775 in the tri-meet victory. The
Falcons (5-11) finished second with 190.225 and the Seawolves
(5-9) were third with 188.575. Parsons also scored 9.900 on beam
and 9.925 on floor.
Nebraskas Stephanie Carter led vault
(9.775) and Michelle Zabawa finished first on bars (9.900) as the
Cornhuskers swept both events. Kylie Stone tied for second with
Parsons on vault (9.725). She was also part of a three-way tie for
second on bars (9.800) and finished third on beam (9.800) and
floor (9.775). Stone finished second in the meet with 39.100
points.
The Falcons Brianna Schwartz (Fr., Bonney
Lake, Wa.) took third in the meet with a season-high 38.125, while
Dominique Ingram was the only Seawolf to finish top-three. Ingram
was second on floor with 9.800.
The Cornhuskers dominated each rotation,
scoring 48.425 or higher on each event. Bars (9.075) was their
strongest event, with the lowest counting score being 9.700
points. The Falcons struggled on vault (46.950) but performed well
on bars (48.075).
Seattle Pacific finishes its regular season in
a four-way meet Mar. 17 at Oregon State. The Mountain Pacific
Sports Federation Championships begin Mar. 24.
