TACOMA, Wash. (Mar. 11) ­Seattle Pacific University won two of three varsity races and three of five overall in their annual preseason scrimmage with Pacific Lutheran on American Lake Saturday.

The Falcons finished first in both the men's (two boat-lengths) and women's varsity fours (half-length) while the Lutes edge SPU to the line by one seat in the women's eight.

The crews split their novice races, Seattle Pacific taking the men's by plenty of open water and PLU the women's by two lengths.

SPU takes two weeks off before the Blue Heron Redwood Sprints Mar. 25 in Eureka, Calif.
