SEATTLE (Mar. 9) Seattle Pacific
University sparkplug guard Mandy Wood has been voted to the
Women's Basketball Coaches Association all-West Region team.
Wood (Sr., 5-6, Port Angeles, Wa.), who was
also a Daktronics all-district and unanimous all-Great Northwest
Athletic Conference first team selection earlier this week, makes
the team for the first time.
The Falcons (22-5) open with No. 23-ranked UC
San Diego at the NCAA Division II West Regional in Bellingham
Friday night.
Wood averaged 15.3 points and 4.2 assists
during the regular season, ranking fifth and third, respectively,
in the GNAC. She also ranked among the leaders in field-goal
percentage (.474) and three-point percentage (.401).
Rounding out the five all-West selections were
Tina Donahue of Western Washington, Leora Juster, from UC San
Diego, Katie McElree from Cal State Bakersfield and Amber Simmons
of Chico State.
Each of the all-region selections are finalists
for the WBCA All-America team, which will be announced Mar. 21 at
the Elite Eight in Hot Springs, Ark.
