March 9, 2006

SEATTLE (Mar. 8) On the eve of its opening game of the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament, Seattle Pacific University has moved back into the top 10 in the national coaches poll.

The Falcons (22-5) moved up seven spots from No. 17 after winning their final two regular season games to take the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship. They are seeded No. 1 in the West Regional, which begins Friday at Brougham Pavilion. SPU plays Central Washington in the first round.

Western Washington, the region's No. 2 seed, dropped to No. 16 in the nation. No other regional competitors are among the top 25.

The champion of the West will meet the South winner. Mississippi's Delta State, the No. 1 team in the nation, is the top seed and host in the South Regional.
