Falcons' Wood Makes First Team, Grant Second Team All-GNAC
March 7, 2006

SEATTLE (Mar. 7) ­ Mandy Wood, the top scorer for playoff-bound Seattle Pacific University, has been voted first team all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Wood (Sr., 5-6, Port Angeles, Wa.) made the all-conference team for the first time and was a unanimous pick of the coaches. Carli Grant (Sr., 5-11, Spokane, Wa./Valley Christian) was selected to the second team after making first team a year ago. Jenny Poe (Sr., 5-8, Enumclaw, Wa.) received honorable mention.

The Falcons (22-5) open with No. 23-ranked UC San Diego at the NCAA Division II West Regional in Bellingham Friday night.

Wood averaged 15.3 points and 4.2 assists during the regular season, ranking fifth and third, respectively, in the GNAC. She also ranked among the leaders in field-goal percentage (.474) and three-point percentage (.401).

Grant is averaging 9.5 rebounds­second in the conference­and 9.5 points. She holds the GNAC career rebounding record and is No. 2 at Seattle Pacific.

Tina Donahue of Western Washington ended the Falcons' three-year run of GNAC players of the year. Carmen Dolfo of the Vikings was coach of the year.

The rest of the GNAC first team was comprised of Central Washington's Jamie Corwin, Humboldt State forward Jenna Washington and Beth Layton of Saint Martin's.
