CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (Mar. 4) Seattle
Pacific University's Chris Randolph stands ninth after the first
day of the USA Indoor Combined Events Championships at the
University of North Carolina.
Defending champion Ryan Harlan leads the men's
heptathlon with 3,406 points. Ryan Olkowski is in second place
with 3,324 points and Chris Boyles is third with 3,224. Two-time
American champion Paul Terek sits in fourth place 3,199.
Randolph (Sr., Lone Tree, Co./Denver
Christian), the only NCAA Division II competitor in the 10-man
field, ran a personal-best 60 meters in 7.23 seconds. His other
marks were a long jump of 21 feet,10 inches, a high jump of 6-5
and a shot put of 42-1½.
The heptathlon concludes Sunday with the 60
hurdles, pole vault and 1000 run.
