Perkins Raises Bar, Lowers NCAA 800 Time at Last Chance Meet
February 25, 2006

SEATTLE (Feb. 25) Teona Perkins of Seattle Pacific University matched the nation's top qualifying mark in the high jump and also posted the sixth-best 800-meter time at the NCAA Division II Northwest Last Chance track and field meet Saturday at the Dempsey facility.

Perkins (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) went over the bar at 5 feet, 8 inches to win the high jump and move up to No. 3 on the SPU all-time list. She then ran the 800 in 2 minutes, 13.11 secondsan improvement of 1.54 over her previous best.

In the women's mile, Mary Moriarty broke her own school record in 5:00.37, which would rank 16th in the NCAA.

The field for the NCAA Indoor Championship will be announced Wednesday, and the meet is Mar. 10-11 in Boston.
