SEATTLE (Feb. 25) Teona Perkins of
Seattle Pacific University matched the nation's top qualifying
mark in the high jump and also posted the sixth-best 800-meter
time at the NCAA Division II Northwest Last Chance track and field
meet Saturday at the Dempsey facility.
Perkins (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) went over the bar
at 5 feet, 8 inches to win the high jump and move up to No. 3 on
the SPU all-time list. She then ran the 800 in 2 minutes, 13.11
secondsan improvement of 1.54 over her previous best.
In the women's mile, Mary Moriarty broke her
own school record in 5:00.37, which would rank 16th in the NCAA.
The field for the NCAA Indoor Championship will
be announced Wednesday, and the meet is Mar. 10-11 in Boston.
