No. 16 Falcon Men Rebound With Road Win over Saint Martin's, 103-79
February 25, 2006

Complete Box Score

LACEY, Wash. (Feb. 25) Tony Binetti and Dustin Bremerman scored a combined 45 points and Bremerman pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds as 16th-ranked Seattle Pacific University snapped its first losing streak of the season with a 103-79 win at Saint Martin's Pavilion Saturday night.

Breaking out of a two-game shooting slump, the Falcons (13-4, 21-5) were never threatened after going on a 20-4 run near the end of the first half.

Binetti (Sr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) pumped in 23 points and Bremerman (Jr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) had 22, with seven coming off his seven offensive rebounds.

After a sluggish start, Seattle Pacific found it stroke, converting 8 of 10 field goals as it pulled away from the Saints in the final six minutes of the opening half. Binetti hit a three-pointer early in the tear and Mike Bushmaker (Sr., 6-7, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) had two layups to cap it and give SPU a 51-33 advantage.

In the second half, the Falcons continually went inside for high-percentage shots, making 19 of 31 as the gap grew to 28 at one stage.

It was their 16th straight victory in the series and the fifth straight defeat for Saint Martin's (2-14, 7-18) overall.

Seattle Pacific out-rebounded the Saints 45-28 and shot 56 percent (37-66). Chad Williams (Sr., 6-8, Burlington, Wa.) scored 13 of his 15 points in the first period for SPU, which had lost two in a row for the first time this season. Bushmaker had 14.

Binetti and Williams each had three treys. Bremerman, the No. 4 three-point shooter in NCAA Division II, attempted only two shots from behind the arc, missing both, but sank 8 of 10 inside it.

Niko Nunagawa had 21 points for Saint Martin's, which shot only 43 percent (26-61).

Going into the final week, the Falcons remain one loss behind Western Washington in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings. Their final regular season game is next Saturday at Northwest Nazarene.
