SEATTLE (Feb. 22) For the second time in
three weeks Seattle Pacific University has ascended to the top of
the NCAA Division II West Region men's basketball rankings.
The Falcons overtook Western Washington after
beating the Vikings, 90-86, last week at home.
There will be a ranking Mar. 1 prior to the
NCAA seeding and selection announcements Mar. 5. Top seeds in each
region will host the regional tournaments.
Seattle Pacific (20-4) plays its final three
regular season games on the road, beginning Thursday night at
Seattle University.
Six of the 10 ranked teams hail from the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference.
West Region - 1. Seattle Pacific 20-4;
2. Western Washington 19-4; 3. Cal State Bakersfield 18-5; 4.
Sonoma State 15-7; 5. Central Washington 13-10; 6. Chaminade 16-8;
7. Alaska Anchorage 17-10; 8. Humboldt State 14-8; 9. Alaska
Fairbanks 15-9; 10. Seattle 13-10.
