SEATTLE (Feb. 11) Mary Moriarty broke
Seattle Pacific University's indoor mile record and teammate Teona
Perkins clocked the ninth-best 800-meter time in NCAA Division II
at the Husky Classic track and field meet at the Dempsey Center
Saturday.
Moriarty (Fr., Seattle/Ballard) and Karin Rohde
(So., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker) each made the NCAA provisional
qualifying list, with respective times of 5:03.25 and 5:03.75.
Rohde had set the SPU mark 5:04.63 earlier this season.
Perkins (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) improved her
qualifying time by nearly 2 seconds, to 2:14.65, and finished 15th
overall.
In the men's long jump, Seattle Pacific's Chris
Randolph (Sr., Lone Tree, Co.) was 15th with a best leap of 21
feet, 10¾ inches.
The balance of the Falcon track team will
participate in Sunday's UW Open No. 3. The Great Northwest
Athletic Conference Championships are next Saturday in Nampa, Id.
