Moriarty Sets New SPU Women's Mile Mark, Perkins Improves Time
February 11, 2006

SEATTLE (Feb. 11) Mary Moriarty broke Seattle Pacific University's indoor mile record and teammate Teona Perkins clocked the ninth-best 800-meter time in NCAA Division II at the Husky Classic track and field meet at the Dempsey Center Saturday.

Moriarty (Fr., Seattle/Ballard) and Karin Rohde (So., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker) each made the NCAA provisional qualifying list, with respective times of 5:03.25 and 5:03.75. Rohde had set the SPU mark 5:04.63 earlier this season.

Perkins (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) improved her qualifying time by nearly 2 seconds, to 2:14.65, and finished 15th overall.

In the men's long jump, Seattle Pacific's Chris Randolph (Sr., Lone Tree, Co.) was 15th with a best leap of 21 feet, 10¾ inches.

The balance of the Falcon track team will participate in Sunday's UW Open No. 3. The Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships are next Saturday in Nampa, Id.
