Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Feb. 9) Dustin Bremerman poured in 37 points and Tony Binetti scored 16 of his 18 in the second half as 5th-ranked Seattle Pacific University came from 16 points down to defeat Alaska Fairbanks 88-82 at Patty Center Thursday night.

With their fifth straight win, the Falcons (11-1, 19-2) maintained their slim lead over Western Washington for the lead in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Alaska Fairbanks built sizable leads in both halves and never trailed until the final six minutes.

Bremerman (Jr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) torched the Nanooks (7-5, 15-7) with an SPU record-tying nine three-pointers, including a trey which put SPU in front 84-77 with 1:42 left.

Binetti (Sr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) did most of his damage during a 26-9 run which reversed the game's course. After three Bremerman threes opened the barrage, Binetti scored 10 straight points as Seattle Pacific came from 13 points down to take the lead, 75-72.

Binetti, who later struck with a pull-up jumper for an 81-77 advantage, made 6 of 7 second-half shots, including 2 of 3 threes.

Bremerman hit 9 of 15 treys. Drake Hudgins established the mark of nine threes in 2000. It was his fifth game of 30 or more points this season.

The Falcons connected on 14 of 28 shots from behind the arc, and shot 59 percent from the field overall. Fairbanks, which had won six in a row at home, missed 12 of 32 free throws while SPU was 16-19.

Kenny Barker topped the hosts with 24 points. Barker all nine UAF points in a 9-2 spurt to take a 68-55 advantage midway through the final period.

With 15 points, Bremerman carried the turnover-prone Falcons in the first half, when they trailed by as many as 16. In the final minutes, Bremerman hit a trey and two free throws to help trim the margin to 44-35. SPU lost the ball nine times in the first period but only three times thereafter.

The Falcons play at Alaska Anchorage Saturday night.
