No. 5 Falcon's Will, Hot Hands Pave Way to 18th Men's Basketball Win Over WOU, Take First Place in GNAC
February 4, 2006

Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Feb. 4) With near-perfect shooting, Robbie Will scored a career-high 22 points and Dustin Bremerman had 20, including five three-pointers, as 5th-ranked Seattle Pacific University beat Western Oregon, 94-79, Saturday at Brougham Pavilion.

Tony Binetti (Sr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) also had 18 for the Falcons (10-1, 18-2), who won their 11 straight at home and fourth in a row overall. They took over sole possession of first place in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and matched the best 20-game start.

Will (So., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O'Dea) hit 8 of 9 field goals, all within 8 feet of the hoop, and figured in a key second-half run. He whirled for two jump hooks and had five points as SPU put together a 15-2 burst. A Binetti steal and feed to Jared Moultrie (Jr., 6-2, West Point, Ut.) capped the run for a 67-52 advantage.

Seattle Pacific had assists on 25 of 33 baskets and shot 60 percent (33-55) from the floor. Binetti and Bremerman each had six assists.

The Falcons' lead eventually grew to 20 with 6:47 left on Bremerman's third trey of the period. He finished 5-9 behind the arc.

J.T. Mitchell topped Western Oregon (2-9, 7-13) with 17 points10 coming in the first half. Stanley Ratcliff pulled down 111 rebounds and Mitchell nine as the Wolves grabbed 18 off the offensive glass and claimed an overall edge of 38-24.

Seattle Pacific led from the outset, twice taking 12-point leads in the opening period, but WOU kept creeping back. The Wolves shot 52 percent in the first half but cooled to 40 percent in the second. It was their ninth loss in 10 games.

Will also blocked four shots and had seven rebounds.

The only other Falcon team to win 18 of their first 20 was in 2001-02. They have won 22 of their last 23 at home.

SPU goes to Alaska this week, beginning Thursday night in Fairbanks.
