SAN JOSE, Ca. (Feb. 3) Michelle Minotti
of San Jose State University placed top-three in each event to
take the all-around competition, helping the Spartans defeat
Seattle Pacific and Illinois-Chicago in a womens gymnastics
tri-meet Friday night at Spartan Arena.
Minotti scored 39.050 in the all-around and
tied for first on beam with teammate Leah Bigelo (9.725) to help
the Spartans score 192.950. The Falcons finished second with
190.225 while the Flames totaled 189.675.
Other event winners were Illinois-Chicagos
Veronica Meunier on vault (9.850) and Veronica Porte of San Jose
state on bars (9.800). Seattle Pacifics Debra Huss and
Illinois-Chicagos Annie Kachman also tied for first on floor
exercise (9.850).
Sarah Sullivan (Jr., Salem, Or.) led Seattle
Pacifics performances, finishing second in the all-around
(38.700) after tieing for third on bars (9.700), beam (9.675) and
floor (9.750).
The Spartans best event of the night was
bars, where they launched a total of 48.875. They controlled each
event except floor, in which the Falcons scored 48.400.
Seattle Pacific (2-3) visits UC Davis Saturday
(Feb. 4) before heading home to host San Jose State Feb. 10.
