February 2, 2006

Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Feb. 2) Dustin Bremerman poured in a career-high seven three-pointers and finished with 27 points as 5th-ranked Seattle Pacific University held on for its 10th straight home win, 97-92 over Humboldt State Thursday night at Brougham Pavilion.

The Falcons (9-1, 17-2) took a half-game lead over idle Western Washington in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference by hitting a season-high 15 treys altogether and shooting 65 percent (15-23) from the behind the arc.

Chad Williams (Sr., 6-8, Burlington, Wa.) hit four free throws in the final 67 seconds after the Lumberjacks (5-5, 11-7) trimmed a 14-point deficit to 90-88. The second pair made it 95-90 with 15 seconds to go. Williams finished with 18 points.

Fourteen of Bremerman's (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) points came during a 23-8 charge which gave SPU its biggest lead at 83-69 with 7:16 left. The spree was capped by Bremerman's fourth straight three-pointer. He made 7 of 9 overall and Williams was 4-5.

Kevin Johnson paced Humboldt State with 25 points and Grayson Moyer added 21. The ŒJacks were coming off an upset of Western Washington, and had scored over 100 points in their last two outings. They are the only visitor to beat SPU in 22 home games over the last two seasons.

Seattle Pacific's Robbie Will (So., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O'Dea) contributed 16 points, along with Mike Bushmaker (Sr., 6-7, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower), who provided a key blocked shot.

Bushmaker rejected an 8-footer by Humboldt's Johnson with 50 seconds remaining, then grabbed the rebound, was fouled and hit one foul shot, making it 93-88.

SPU shot 59 percent from the field (36-61) but was out-rebounded by HSU, 38-33. Johnson seized 14 boardseight on the offensive endand Devin Paul had 10.

SPU concludes its four-game home stand Saturday afternoon at 3 against Western Oregon.
