SEATTLE (Jan. 17) Rising higher than any
Seattle Pacific University men's basketball has gone before, the
Falcons are now No. 3 in this week's NABC Coaches Poll for NCAA
Division II.
For the second week, SPU (13-1) received one
first-place vote. The team has won eight straight, is undefeated
(12-0) against Div. II opposition and visits No. 2-ranked Western
Washington Saturday night.
Previously, the best ranking for the Falcons
had been No. 4, which they earned both in 1993-94 and again this
season.
Montevallo (Al.) retained the No. 1 position
for a second week. Five points separate Seattle Pacific from
Western Washington. The two teams share the lead in the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference at 5-0. SPU visits Central
Washington Thursday night.
