MONMOUTH, Ore. (Jan. 5) ­ Dustin Bremerman dropped some early bombs and Tony Binetti scored a season-high 24 points, spurring 6th-ranked Seattle Pacific University to its fifth straight win, 89-74 over Western Oregon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball game Thursday night.

Bremerman (Jr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) drilled four first-half three-pointers and had 17 points for the Falcons (2-0, 10-1). Five players finished with 12 or more points for SPU, which shot 58.5 percent and led from the outset.

Seattle Pacific got the jump on the Wolves (1-2, 6-6) early with Bremerman connecting on his first three treys and the team hitting 8 of its first 11 shots from the floor to go on top 23-10 after six minutes.

Later, after Western Oregon closed the gap to five, SPU made a 12-3 run to the locker room behind its reserves, with Mike Bushmaker (Sr., 6-7, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) scoring four of his eight first-half points for a 47-33 lead.

In the second half, after WOU trimmed an 18-point deficit to 10, Binetti (Sr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) helped build the lead back to 15 by burying three jumpers, including two from outside the arc.

Binetti finished 8-11 from the floor and Bushmaker, who had 14 points, was 6-7. The Falcons were 9-17 on threes.

Western Oregon shot just 41 percent and was out-rebounded 39-32. Robbie Will (So., 6-10, Seattle, Wa./O'Dea) and Chad Williams (Sr., 6-8, Burlington, Wa.) each pulled down seven boards. Will and reserve guard Jared Moultrie (Jr., 6-2, West Point, Ut.) each scored 12.

SPU visits Humboldt State Saturday night to complete a stretch of eight of 10 games on the road.
