Falcons Fall to 25th in Women's Hoop Rankings
January 3, 2006

SEATTLE (Jan. 3) Seattle Pacific University nearly fell out of the NCAA Division II women's basketball national rankings for the first time in seven years, but held on to the No. 25 slot in this week's USA TODAY/ESPN coaches poll.

Seattle Pacific (7-4) slid 11 spots from the Dec. 20 rankings after losing two of three. The Falcons return home from a seven-game road trip to host Saint Martin's Thursday night. Three of the four losses have been to teams currently in the top 25.

Defending national champion Washburn (Ks.) remained No. 1 in the nation. Western Washington is No. 9, Chico State No. 12 and Cal State Bakersfield No. 23. All three defeated SPU last month on the road.
