Falcons Remain No. 3; Meet First Nationally Ranked Foe of '05-'06 Friday
December 6, 2005

SEATTLE (Dec. 6) – Third-ranked Seattle Pacific University will face its first nationally-ranked women’s basketball opponent of the season Friday night in Bellingham when the unbeaten Falcons meet No. 11 Chico State.

In a rematch of last year’s NCAA Division II West Region championship game, SPU (4-0) will play the Wildcats (5-0) in the first round of the CCAA/GNAC Challenge. Host Western Washington is No. 8 in this week’s USA TODAY/ESPN coaches poll.

Defending national champion Washburn (Ks.) received 22 of 27 first-place votes in the initial weekly ranking. Seattle Pacific had also been No. 3 in the preseason poll.
