December 3, 2005

Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Dec. 3) – Carli Grant scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to lead Seattle Pacific to an 80-67 victory over visiting Lewis-Clark State in a non-conference women’s basketball game Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Seattle Pacific (4-0), ranked No. 3 in NCAA II, captured a 15-point lead at halftime and cruised to the victory, its 64th straight at home in the regular season. The Falcons have won 35 straight regular season games overall. It was the second straight loss for the Warriors (6-2) after a 6-0 start.

The Falcons scored eight straight points to snap a 6-6 tie and capture the lead for good. SPU extended its lead to double figures midway through and pulled ahead by 15 with 5:17 left in the half. The Warriors scored five unanswered to cut the deficit back down to 10 with 2:50 to go, but SPU held LCSC without a point the rest of the way and increased its lead back to 15 when Mandy Wood (Sr., 5-6, Port Angeles, Wa.) buried an off-balanced three pointer on the run, just beating the halftime buzzer.

Grant (Sr., 5-11, Spokane, Wa./Valley Christian) shot 5-for-10 from the field and also had four assists. Wood finished with 12 points and led all players with seven assists. Autumn Fielding (Jr., 5-9, Kennewick, Wa.), 14, and Kelsey Hill (Fr., 6-2, Portland, Or./Portland Christian), 13, also scored in double figures for SPU.

Ashley Baker had 17 points and 13 rebounds for LC State. Aundrea Morrison led the Warriors with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds. Jade Fulbright scored 13.

Rachel Strand (Jr., 6-0, Shoreline, Wa./King’s) had eight points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench for SPU.

The Falcons shot 44 percent from the field and held LC State to just 37 percent. SPU also forced 18 turnovers and had a slight 46-43 advantage in rebounds.

After playing their first four games of the season at home, the Falcons now embark on a season-long seven-game road trip beginning Dec. 9 in Bellingham, Wa. for the CCAA/GNAC Challenge. The Falcons face Chico State at 5:00 p.m.
