Bremerman Bombs Away, Scores 30 in Falcons' Tourney WinNovember 19, 2005

Complete Box Score

SEATTLE (Nov. 19) Dustin Bremerman connected on six of Seattle Pacific University's 14 three-pointers and scored 30 points as the Falcons held off Cal State San Bernardino, 85-81, in the final game of the Sodexho Tip-Off Classic Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

The Falcons (2-0) trailed early, surged in front by 16 and then held on as the Coyotes (1-1) rallied in the final minutes. Down by three, Jason Breland's three-point attempt with 2 seconds left fell short and Chad Williams of SPU was fouled on the rebound. He sank one free throw for the final margin.

Bremerman (Jr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower), who had scored 32 in the opening game of the season, hit 9 of 14 field goals, including 6-9 outside the arc. He pumped in 18 first-half points as SPU went ahead.

Williams (Sr., 6-8, Burlington, Wa.), Tony Binetti (Sr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) and Bremerman made consecutive treys during an 11-0 burst which put the Falcons in front, 67-51 with 12:35 to go.

Bremerman, Binetti and Williams made the all-tournament team along with Devoughn Lamont of Cal State Monterey Bay and Breland, who had 14 points to pace CSSB.

Binetti finished with 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Williams had 14 points and eight boards.

San Bernardino got a balanced effort with 11 players scoring five or more, and the team shot 52 percent. The Coyotes matched the Falcons' 14 treys but were beaten on the boards, 33-28.

Three-pointers by Breland and Curtis Williams, the latter with 52 seconds left, helped trim the SPU lead to 84-81.

The Falcons fell behind by 10 midway through the first half before switching to a zone defense and then hitting a barrage of three-pointers. Bremerman sank three treys and Jared Moultrie (Jr., 6-2, West Point ,Ut.) a pair during the final four minutes of the half, putting SPU in front, 42-41.

SPU travels to Los Angeles for a post-Thanksgiving Day tournament and faces Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday.

In an earlier game Saturday, Mesut Ademoglu's 28 points and 10 rebounds led Northwest Nazarene (1-1) to an 80-72 win over Cal State Monterey Bay (0-2).

Trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half, the Crusaders seized the lead with a 29-5 run which extended into to the opening minutes of the second period. Ademoglua scored 14 of the points during the spree. The Otters were led by Devoughn Lamont's 23 points.
