SEATTLE (Nov. 16) Three-time selection
Shannon Lovejoy was among four Seattle Pacific University women's
soccer players voted first team all-Far West Region by the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Lovejoy (Sr., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep), a
midfielder who leads the No. 2-ranked Falcons with nine assists,
was joined on the first team by Sarah Martinez (So., Bothell,
Wa./Cedar Park Christian), Heidi Jacobson (Sr., Kirkland,
Wa./Cedar Park Christian) and Carolyn Nason (Jr., Lafayette,
Co./Broomfield).
Martinez has scored 16 goals, including two in
the opening two rounds of the NCAA Division II tournament.
Jacobson is second on SPU with 11 goals while Nason has been a key
member of a back four which ranks fourth nationally in scoring
defense.
Nason made the first team a year ago and
Martinez was on the second team. Jacobson was on the second team
in 2003.
Altogether, SPU had six selections. No other
teams totaled more than three. Voted to the second team this year
were midfielder Kara Hamby (So., Spokane, Wa./Mead) and defender
Michelle Everson (Sr., Tacoma, Wa./Stadium), who was a first team
selection a year ago.
Undefeated Seattle Pacific (19-0-3) plays No.
1-ranked Metro State Saturday in a national quarterfinal game.
