SEATTLE (Nov. 14) Alyssa Given and Jenna
Von Moos of the playoff-bound Seattle Pacific University
volleyball team were voted first team all-Great Northwest Athletic
Conference and Chris Johnson earned co-coach of the year after
leading the Falcons to a share of the conference title.
Given (So., Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) led SPU in
kills (3.88), service aces (0.56) . She ranks third in GNAC kills,
fourth in points (4.68) and fifth in aces.
Von Moos (Jr., Stanwood, Wa.), a second team
selection as a sophomore, is the Falcons assists (12.83) and
attack percentage (.283) leader.
Johnson, a graduate of Newport High School,
shared coach of the year with Mario Andaya of co-champion Central
Washington. In his first season, Johnson led Seattle Pacific to
its first conference title after being picked fourth in the
preseason.
The Falcons (22-5) won their final 11 matches
to earn the automatic berth in the NCAA Division II tournament.
They face host Cal State L.A. in the first round of the Pacific
Regional Thursday night.
Middles Angie Wodrich (Richland, Wa.), Rachel
Biornstad (So., Kent, Wa./Kentlake), Whitney Dibble (Sr., Reno,
Nv./Galena), outside Chelsey Myers (Sr., Minden, Nv.) and libero
Torii Mount (Fr., Gresham, Or.) each received honorable mention.
